Creating a new Fixture After installing TestCafe into your server or local machine, you can start doing simultaneous tests by creating a new “Fixture”. In the TestaCafe Control Panel, click “New Fixture” button which will open a pop up form where you could specify fixture name and the target web page. When done filling up the fixture details press the “Create” button.

Doing so will add a new line at fixture list with the details which you had entered together with a success meassage in the Control Panel.

Recording a test If you hover your mouse pointer at the newly created fixture name, buttons will appear and clicking the “REC” button will start the recording of your test action. Clicking the “REC” button will load the webpage

you specified but with an additional icon at the top-left of the page for the TestCafe menu during testing. Hovering at that said icon will show you the options.

You can begin recording the actions for the test after the page finishes loading. In this example, we will be adding an item to the cart by clicking on a product image. The “click” action will pop up a dialog form

that will show you the details of that action. On the top on the new window shows the number of steps you had recorded with the step name, the type of action and the some attribute of the element to which the action was done. In our case it’s the alternate text of the product image. Inside the form, it shows the details of the step you just took such as the type of action, additional key presses, element identifier and selector and so on which would specify the action and to which page element the action was intended to. When satisfied, you can complete recording the action by adding it to the steps by pressing the “Add Action” button. This way you are given an option to cancel the action when needed. There are also times where the pop-up form will not appear right away but will only show a balloon

which will give you an option whether this action is needed and by clicking the balloon will open the form with the details of the new action. To review the recorded actions, just hover over the “TestCafe logo and choose the      “Recorded steps” menu or “Ctrl+s” shortcut key to view the list of all the recorded steps. Choose “Complete recording” button when done or “Continue recording” or press “Esc” key if not. To finish recording without accessing the “Recorded steps” window, you can use the      “Complete recording” menu or “Ctrl+e”. After completing the steps you will be asked to enter the test name to help you distinguish the actions this test does.
